RECRUITING INFORMATION:
Mary Nutter, founder of National Sports Clinics, began this tournament using a unique format in an attempt to improve the recruiting opportunities for college coaches as well as the participating athletes. NSC and USA Softball are committed to continuing this tournament to carry on Mary's vision and legacy and to support the softball recruiting process.
We invite more than 200 college coaches in the region; however, most that come do so because there are players in our tournament who they have engaged with and shown an interest in attending their schools. The players have made contact with these coaches and provided them with their schedules well before tournament time. College coaches, unless they are nearby and it's convenient, do not just show up because a tournament is labeled a "recruiting tournament." They want to watch student-athletes that have a genuine interest in their school.
The coaches that have registered to attend this year can be found HERE. The list will be finalized June 9.
Student-athletes who hope to continue their softball careers in college must work to make contact with coaches at schools that they have an interest in attending and maintain communication with the coach.
Over the years, we have come to realize many coaches, parents and players do not fully understand the recruiting process. There are any number of resources out there to help, many of which are recruiting services that require a fee. National Sports Clinics does not endorse ANY recruiting service. Coaches, it is at least partially your responsibility to help educate your players and parents on the recruiting process if you are playing in our tournament for the purpose of seeking exposure for your players. I recommend that you share this LINK with all of your players and their parents. This is in not an endorsement of NCSA, but rather pointing you to the information provided by the interview with Cathi Aradi.
Your parents/players can download this FREE BOOK as another resource. NSC does not endorse CaptainU or any other recruiting service. The free book link is simply another resource. College coaches don't "just show up" at every recruiting tournament to search for players. Their time, budgets and allotted recruiting days won't allow for it. It is a player's responsibility to begin the college search long before this or any recruiting tournament takes place. They need to become familiar with the schools and softball programs they are interested in attending. THEY need to contact the coach to introduce themselves, express their interest in the school/program, provide a resume and video, let the coach know their area of academic interest, etc., and let the coach know their tournament schedule as early as possible each summer.
One resource for college coach contact information can be found HERE. The colleges are broken down by division/affiliation in the left column and then by conference.
